Accounting Specialist | Prudential Financial | Newark, NJ

General
The position is part of the Prudential Investment Management (PIM) Finance Controller's group and is responsible for the coordination and preparation of Assets Under Management (AUM) reporting; calculation, booking and invoicing of Affiliated asset management fees for the PIM businesses. The position supports the overall Asset Management Profit Center, PIM's financial and senior management, as well as Corporate Controller's financial management.

PIM Finance Controller's
The Controller's group reports directly to the Asset Management Segment Controller. They are responsible for the preparation and coordination of all consolidated financial reporting requirements. This entails coordinating timely and accurate reporting closes, preparing Profit Center consolidations, liaison to Corporate Controller's groups and Investor Relations, oversight of the general ledger systems and insuring proper accounting is applied in order to reflect GAAP results at the Profit Center and our responsible legal entities.

Specific Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare of various quarterly submissions of Assets under Management related data for external reporting (QFS, 10K, MD&A).
  • Prepare of several monthly and quarterly management reports, which are used as the basis for analysis of Assets under Management.
  • Analysis of trends and variances. Provide management with key indicators and explanations for changes, across businesses and clients, inclusive of client flow analysis for both internal and external reporting.
  • Perform ad-hoc requests related to PIM AUM (various cuts of assets by client, by product, by type, etc.), which is used by various marketing groups and in response to external surveys.
  • Calculate and book PIM's affiliated revenues based on market fee agreements.
  • Sending invoices for affiliated fees to various Prudential Financial entities and ensuring that inter-entity payables and receivables agree.
  • Ensure the integrity of PIM's AUM database by working closely with our supporting operations group.
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley reporting/assessment/assertation/scoping for the PIM Center Unit.
  • Assist in coordination of audit requests.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should have a general knowledge of financial markets and an understanding of basic accounting principles. The candidate must be able to manage multiple assignments and priorities. Additionally, the candidate is required to have high ethical standards and be able to work with confidential information.

Other qualifications include:
  • Undergraduate degree in a business major (accounting/finance) or equivalent work experience
  • General understanding of financial markets and investment vehicles
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong PC skills including Excel (experience with Oracle, Congos, Power Play and Impromptu a plus)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Self motivated and proactive

Additional Comments
The position is located in Newark. Overtime will be required during peak periods.
