Mgr, Financial Reporting | Prudential Financial | Woodbridge, NJ

The Retirement Finance department is responsible for accounting controls, financial reporting, planning and analysis for the Retirement businesses, as well as supporting financial systems and product development. Financial information related to the Retirement business is developed and reported from our three main locations - Woodbridge NJ, Hartford CT, and Scranton PA.

Within the department the External Reporting Unit (ERU) is responsible for external financial reporting, accounting policy, and tax reporting for the businesses. The ERU is based in Woodbridge, NJ. The manager of the ERU reports directly into the Retirement Finance Controllership team and acts as the primary liaison with the Corporate Tax Department in Newark for tax-related functions.

The responsibilities of the ERU Manager will include:
  • Quarterly tax reporting, forecasting and analysis for the Retirement business
  • Key liaison between Retirement Finance and the Corporate Tax Department
  • Preparation of quarterly financial presentations to be made to senior Corporate and Retirement financial management supporting earnings releases, the QFS and SEC filings
  • Documenting and implementing GAAP accounting policies related to new products/initiatives and new accounting pronouncements
  • Documenting accounting for new products and initiatives
  • Supporting Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiatives
  • Partnering with Retirement business contacts including actuarial, operations, risk management, corporate accounting policy, corporate tax, and internal and external auditors

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other business-related field
  • Prior Tax reporting and/or financial reporting experience
  • Accounting policy background beneficial
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Windows applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and to develop relationships with business contacts
  • Ability to work longer hours during peak reporting periods
  • Flexibility to work in both Woodbridge and Newark offices
  • 40% - 50% time will be spent in Newark, NJ
