Director, Tax | Prudential Financial | Newark, NJ

For more information, visit http://www.prudential.com. Asset Management Finance is currently seeking a Director of Tax Reporting in the Asset Management Central Controllers Group. The group is responsible for the overall consolidated results, as well as providing financial consolidated forecasting, planning and analysis for the Asset Management Segment. The Asset Management segment is a component of Prudential's Investment Division.

The Asset Management Segment manages and administers over $430 billion in assets and is comprised of six businesses: Public Equity (Jennison Associates, Quantitative Management), Public Fixed Income, Prudential Capital Group, Prudential Mortgage Capital Company, Prudential Real Estate Investors, and Prudential Investments. The assets managed and administered by these businesses are on behalf of third party investors, both institutional and retail, or Prudential affiliates. The Finance department has individual finance teams in each business group as well as the central group described above.

The successful candidate will assume a leadership role with oversight responsibility for the Segment's income tax reporting.

In this role, the incumbent will:
  • Liaise with the separate business unit Finance areas in the preparation of legal entity tax provisions.
  • Coordinate the reporting of income taxes for the Segment's legal entities.
  • Be responsible for overall tax accounting, including the tax provision for the Asset Management Segment.
  • Be responsible for all stand-alone legal entity tax reporting for the Segment, including tax footnotes and coordinate with external auditors in connection with their work.
  • Be responsible for coordinating with Corporate Tax on issues and transactions
  • Be responsible for the planning & forecasting of taxes for the Segment
  • Be responsible, working with Corporate Tax, to increase tax accounting knowledge throughout the Asset Management finance function
  • Assist in transactional analysis (capital movements, accounting/reporting of tax law changes, etc.) and interaction with Corporate Accounting Policy regarding implications and implementation of new accounting and reporting standards related to income taxes.

The incumbent will report to the Controller of the Asset Management Segment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in financial reporting including accounting for income taxes (SFAS 109)
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting with strong accounting and reporting experience including familiarity with accounting close process.
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Self starter with excellent interpersonal, communication and partnering skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Experience in the Asset Management business a plus
