Manager, Accounting | Prudential Financial | Newark, NJ

For more information, visit http://www.prudential.com. Prudential Investment Management ('PIM') is seeking a Manager, Accounting in its Fixed Income finance group for Alternative Products. The group maintains a dual reporting role to the PIM Controller and the Fixed Income Chief Operating Officer. The successful candidate will be part of the group responsible for accounting, reporting, planning, forecasting and analysis for the Fixed Income business.

The Fixed Income business represents nearly 45% of approximately $438 billion of PIM's assets under management. The business includes management of Prudential's General Account portfolio as well as assets managed for retail and institutional clients. Fixed Income asset management operations are based primarily in Newark, NJ.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Financial Reporting and Planning & Analysis responsibilities for PIM FI alternative products, primarily CDOs and Hedge Funds
    • CDOs
  • Calculate monthly income earned by propriety investments and record calculation in the General Ledger system (Oracle)
  • Monitor cash receipts, book value, market value and impairment
  • Submit monthly required equity and estimated earnings
  • Assist in FIN 46 analysis for new CDO deals
  • Accounting and reporting for bank loans during warehousing period
    • Hedge Funds
  • Prepare Oracle entries for Investment Manager and related subsidiaries
  • Submit monthly required equity and estimated earning
  • Prepare scenario analysis, performance attribution analysis, volatility analysis, etc.
    • Planning and forecasting requirements for alternative products
    • Prepare quarterly GAAP Supplemental schedules and monthly PIM Center schedules
    • Reconcile & prepare analysis of financial results
    • Possible opportunity to supervise one staff level accountant
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting and experience in financial reporting and analysis required.
  • Asset management industry, fund accounting, financial statement preparation and/or subsidiary reporting experience a plus.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Supervisory experience highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills (a firm working knowledge of Excel and Oracle).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and partnering skills.

  • Overtime will be required during peak periods.
